The Anhui Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology has unveiled a draft plan to boost its non-ferrous metals industry from 2025 to 2027. A key goal is to build a magnesium industry cluster worth 10 billion yuan (1.39 billion US dollars) by 2027 and to ramp up Anhui Baomei's production of high-performance magnesium alloys to 300,000 tonnes per year. Anhui Baomei, a core subsidiary of Baowu Magnesium, is playing a major role in the industry's upgrade, helping establish a global benchmark for the magnesium industry.
The plan prioritizes magnesium as a key sector, aiming to exceed 10 billion yuan (approximately 1.39 billion US dollars) in revenue by focusing on innovation and industry collaboration. Anhui Baomei's project will create a green, seamless supply chain connecting mining, smelting, and processing to make the most efficient use of resources. Baowu Magnesium plans to build the world's largest magnesium alloy production base, shifting the industry from simply growing in size to improving quality and efficiency, supporting China's transition from a resource-rich country to a technology leader.
