Dowstone to build copper and cobalt smelter in DRC

Dowstone Technology plans to build a hydrometallurgical plant in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) through its subsidiary Jiana HK Limited, which will serve as the investment entity. A project company, tentatively named Dowstone Copper Mining, will be set up to build the smelter with an annual production capacity of 30,000 tonnes of cathode copper and 2,710 tonnes of cobalt intermediates.
The project will be funded through the company's own capital or self-raised funds, with a total investment of up to USD165 million (approximately RMB1.18 billion). Once operational, the project will further strengthen Dowstone's competitiveness and market share in the global copper and cobalt markets.
