China wraps up on-site phase of latest central environmental inspections

The fourth batch of the third round of central government environmental inspections has wrapped up its on-site phase
In accordance with new regulations on ecological and environmental protection, the inspections focused on addressing key environmental issues raised by the public. Inspection teams worked on the ground to identify serious problems, following a targeted, law-based, and evidence-driven approach . They also took a firm stand against "one-size-fits-all" enforcement, excessive or generalized accountability, and using punishment as a substitute for real environmental improvements.
As of June 28, 2025, the teams had received 23,311 public complaints, with 17,880 found to be valid. After removing duplicates, 14,066 cases were passed on to local authorities and companies . So far, 9,213 cases have been resolved or are in the process of being addressed.
