On June 23, Qingzhen's bauxite recycling project began trial production for its first phase, which focuses on processing 500,000 tonnes of high-sulfur bauxite annually
Qingzhen holds the largest bauxite reserves in Guizhou Province, with proven reserves of 518 million tonnes and potential resources exceeding 700 million tonnes, accounting for over 60% of the provincial total. However, a significant portion consists of high-sulfur bauxite, which is difficult to utilize.
The project converts such low-quality ore into high-grade alumina concentrate (sulfur content≤0.5%) and sulfur concentrate (sulfur content≥38%) through flotation desulfurization, significantly boosting resource efficiency and supporting the city's downstream alumina industry.
. Covering 87 . 4Mu (about 5 . 83 hectares) of land and with an investment of around RMB200 million (USD27 . 88 million), the project uses advanced domestic flotation desulfurization technology and is designed to produce 440,000 tonnes of alumina concentrate and 60,000 tonnes of sulfur concentrate each year . Once fully operational, it is expected to generate over RMB200 million (USD27 . 88 million) in annual revenue and more than RMB20 million (USD2 . 79 million) in annual average profit.Qingzhen holds the largest bauxite reserves in Guizhou Province, with proven reserves of 518 million tonnes and potential resources exceeding 700 million tonnes, accounting for over 60% of the provincial total.
