Mingmei Magnesium completes trial run of 6000-ton extrusion press

On June 18, Henan Mingmei Magnesium Technology Co., Ltd. completed the trial run of its self-developed 6000-ton extrusion press, the first of its kind in China's magnesium industry, with the initial batch of 8.4-meter-long wind turbine blades rolling off production line, marking a major step forward in magnesium processing capabilities in Hebi City.
The 7-meter-tall press is designed for forward extrusion of magnesium alloy profiles and plates. For example, a 100 kg magnesium billet can be processed into a large wind turbine blade in about 10 minutes through heating, extrusion, straightening, cooling, and cutting processes.
Mingmei's proprietary casting and rolling equipment is capable of producing magnesium plates with thicknesses ranging from 0.5 to 10 mm and widths up to 800 mm. The company is now able to produce high-end magnesium products such as large structural components and battery packs for new energy vehicles. This milestone paves the way for growth in aerospace, rail transit, NEVs, and 3C sectors, and supports the company's shift toward high-end, intelligent, and green manufacturing.
