Chinalco begins bauxite exploration project in Guinea-Bissau

On June 5, Chinalco's bauxite exploration project officially broke ground in Boé, Gabú Province, Guinea-Bissau. The ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador Yang Renhuo, Chinalco Mining Deputy General Manager Wo Yongjun, Minister of Natural Resources of Guinea-Bissau Malam Sambu, and representatives from the Prime Minister's Office, local government, and community.
Ambassador Yang said the project is an important step in carrying out the agreement between President Xi Jinping and President Umaro Sissoco Embaló , and expressed hopes it will support Guinea-Bissau's development and strengthen bilateral ties. Minister Sambu thanked China for its continued support and said the project would help improve local livelihoods and boost the economy.
