Xinjiang Qiya phase II aluminum project gains EIA approval

On May 14, Xinjiang Qiya Aluminum & Electricity Co., Ltd. received environmental impact assessment (EIA) approval for its phase II primary aluminum capacity replacement project, with an annual production capacity of 400,000 tonnes.
Located in the Huoshaoshan Industrial Park within the Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone, the project will use reserved land at the existing plant. It involves demolishing and upgrading the Phase II workshop, installing new electrolytic cells, and building a new material feeding system.
The project will adopt energy-efficient SY500 electrolytic cell technology, aiming to reach industry-leading energy efficiency and top-tier environmental standards. As part of Qiya's integrated "coal-power-aluminum-processing" model, this upgrade represents a key step forward, with a total investment of around 3.86 billion yuan (537 million US dollars).
