Chalco reports 12% YoY increase in Q1 alumina sales

Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (Chalco) reported production of 4.48 million tonnes of metallurgical grade alumina and 950,000 tonnes of chemical grade alumina for the first quarter of 2025, up by 5.41% and 6.74% respectively from the prior year period, while sales of metallurgical grade alumina increased by 12% YoY to 1.68 million tonnes, according to the company's quarterly report.
From January to March, Chalco produced 1.94 million tonnes and sold 1.9 million tonnes of primary aluminum (including alloy), up by 8.99% and 7.95% respectively versus the same period of last year.
The company has strengthened efforts to secure a stable supply of bauxite resources both domestically and internationally. In the first quarter, bauxite production and shipment from Chalco's Guinean project increased by 8.18% and 27.89% YoY, respectively, both reaching record highs.
