JCHX Mining to build second phase of Lonshi copper mine

JCHX Mining Management Co., Ltd. plans to invest approximately USD751 million to build the second phase of mining and dressing project at Lonshi copper mine in DRC.
According to the feasibility study, the second phase will focus on the eastern area of Lonshi copper mine, with a maximum mining and dressing capacity of 3.5Mtpa, and the construction is expected to take 4.5 years to complete. The final product of the project is copper concentrate.
The first phase of Lonshi copper mine, focusing on the western region, became operational in Q4 2023 and would produce about 40,000 tonnes of copper in concentrate annually at full capacity.
As of October 31, 2024, a total of 26.05 million tonnes of measured, indicated and inferred mineral resources were discovered at the eastern region, containing 1,039,486 tonnes of copper at an average grade of 3.99% Cu.
As the east region become operational, the west region will reduce output year by year, and the Lonshi copper mine will have a total mining and dressing capacity of up to 4.5Mtpa. When the east region reaches full capacity, Lonshi copper mine will have a total annual production capacity of 100,000 tonnes of copper in concentrate.
