BEIJING (Asian Metal) 26 Sep 05 – With enough stock for the rest of the year, major manganese flake consumers in Europe are not purchasing from the market now, and traders who have stocks are looking for buyers.
A Swedish trader told Asian Metal that he is offering his material at USD1,580/t in warehouse Rotterdam, but it seems that the consumers are lacking interest. He bought the material from Chinese suppliers at lower than USD1,400/t CIF Rotterdam before August .
“I made a few deals in the last two weeks when the summer was just over.” The trader claimed that he sold more than 300 tons last week at around the price that he is offering . “But now, it seems everyone has stocks for the fourth quarter . ”
The trader believes the supply and demand are in balance, and the price will remain at this level for the next two months. The trader deals over 2,000 tons manganese flakes each year.
A UK trader said that he just bought 60 tons from China at the price of USD1,540/t CIF Rotterdam for prompt shipment, and he wants to sell at around USD1,570/t in warehouse Rotterdam. “I know many major consumers have stocks in hand, but I am expecting more deals . ” The trader is close to conclude a 50 tons sale.
The trader believes the close of many plants in in China will cause the material shortage at the end of the year, and he thinks the price will rise about USD50/t in the rest of the year. The trader deals around 1,000 tons manganese flakes annually.
