China has released a new safety standard on E-bikes (GB 17761-2024), which will take effect on September 1, 2025, replacing the existing standard (GB 17761-2018).
The new standard specified that the total weight of plastic used in an E-bike should not exceed 5.5% of the total weight of the bike, which might drive the demand for magnesium alloy as an alternative.
