Nonfemet Shaoguan Smelter commissions two new projects

On January 10, Shaoguan Smelter of Zhongjin Lingnan Nonferrous Metals (Nonfemet) started trial production at its minor metals recycling and refining project and the phase one of 120,000tpa zinc-based advanced materials project.
The minor metals recycling and refining project, with a total investment of RMB220 million (USD30.01 million), began construction in September 2023. It adopts the self-developed and first-of-its-kind technology to recycle gallium, germanium and indium from raw materials and further refine these minor metals to semiconductor grade gallium, germanium and indium (99.9999%-99.99999%), with a total annual production capacity of 45 tonnes.
The phase one of 120,000tpa zinc-based advanced materials project, with a total investment of RMB160 million (USD21.82 million), uses the leading technology to produce hot-dip galvanizing products, die-casting zinc, and zinc alloy sacrificial anode. The first phase, when fully operational, will produce 50,000 tonnes of zinc-based advanced materials annually, which will meet the demand from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
