Liaoning's annual magnesite industrial output value up 3% YoY

In 2024, a total of 500 magnesite companies above designated size in Liaoning together achieved industrial output value of 50 billion yuan (6.82 billion US dollars), up by 3% YoY. Magnesia refractory maintains the dominant share of magnesite industry in Liaoning, with the annual production reaching 16.82 million tonnes in 2024, accounting for over 95% of the industry's total economic output.
Liaoning still holds a major market share in magnesia industry both at home and aboard. The province exports about 3 million tonnes of magnesia products annually, including caustic calcined magnesia, sintered magnesia, fused magnesia and magnesia brick, which are exported to more than 100 countries and regions such as U.S., Europe, Japan, India, South Korea, etc. Liaoning accounts for over 60% of total magnesia refractory export in the world, despite that China adjusted its export policy and canceled export quotas and tariff for magnesia. In addition, Liaoning's magnesia industry has a direct impact on the supply chains and industrial chains of magnesia refractory, magnesia construction materials, magnesium chemical materials, with a domestic market share of 90%.
