Constriction kicks off on 2.4Mtpa alumina project in Fangchenggang

On December 15, an alumina project with annual production capacity of 2.4 million tonnes broke ground in Fangchenggang, Guangxi.
With a total investment of RMB20 billion (USD2.75 billion), the project has a planned land area of around 3,000Mu (200 hectares), where two 1.2Mtpa alumina production lines will be built, using high-quality Guinean-origin bauxite as the raw material, which will be supplied by TEBA.
The project also includes production lines for high-end battery and electronics materials such as aluminum foil, which will be widely used for rail transit, aerospace and new energy industries.
When fully operational, the project would achieve an annual production value of RMB34 billion (USD4.67 billion), along with tax contribution of RMB1.5 billion (USD206 million), and is expected to help create more than 4,000 jobs.
