Gansu finds 121 new mineral deposits since 2021

Gansu has invested RMB1.66 billion (USD228 million) in the latest round of mineral exploration since 2021, with a total of 121 new deposits found, according to the Department of Natural Resources of Gansu Province.
A total of 134 kinds of minerals with proven resources have been found in the province to date, 12 of which, including nickel and cobalt, ranked first in China.
72 new deposits were discovered by Gansu Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Exploration & Development, adding mineral resources of 96t of gold, 70,000t of copper, 45,000t of nickel, 51.26Mt of iron, 680,000t of vanadium oxide, 5.62Mt of Crystalline graphite, 1.27Mt of fluorspar and 226Mt of quartzite. Gansu Nonferrous Metals Geological Exploration Bureau discovered 49 new deposits, adding mineral resources of 23.2t of gold, 710,000t of lead and zinc, 20,000t of copper and 16.13Mt of iron.
