Xinjiang Qiya to swap 400ktpa of primary aluminum capacity

Xinjiang Qiya Aluminum & Electricity Co., Ltd. plans to replace primary aluminum production capacity of 400,000tpa by building 320 500KA electrolytic cells at the National Xinjiang Zhundong Economic-Technological Development Park in October 2024 and expects new capacity to come on stream in March 2026, and as part of the capacity swap scheme, the company will shut down its existing 320 cells of 500KA with the same production capacity by February 2026, according to the Industry and Information Technology Department of Xinjiang.
