Hubei makes breakthrough in exploration of fluorspar and manganese ore

A large fluorspar deposit with proven reserves of 1.11 million tonnes at 33.53% CaF2 on average, and a medium-to-large sized manganese ore deposit with proven reserves of 10.75 million tonnes have been unearthed in Yichang, Hubei, which are significant breakthroughs in mineral exploration over the past several decades in the province, according to Central South Institute of Metallurgical Geology.
The newly-discovered deposits increased fluorspar and manganese ore resources in Hubei by nearly 90% and 50% respectively. The manganese ore deposit is expected to add another 20 years of supply of manganese resource in the province, with potential economic value exceeding RMB5 billion (USD708 million).
According to Hubei Mining Rights Reserve Trading Center, the exploration rights of the fluorspar and manganese ore deposits have already been traded for RMB203 million (USD28.75 million) and RMB112 million (USD15.85 million) respectively, for a total of RMB315 million (USD44.57 million).
