Sunstone signs deal for 300ktpa prebaked anode project

On September 29, Sunstone Development Co., Ltd. entered into an investment agreement with the management committee of Lvsi Port Economic Development Zone in Qidong, Jiangsu and Huafon Group Co., Ltd. for a 300,000tpa prebaked anode project.
Sunstone and Huafon will set up a joint venture, which will build the prebaked anode production base with a planned land area of 253Mu (16.87 hectares) at Lvsi Port Economic Development Zone. Total investment for the project is around RMB1 billion (USD142 million), including fixed-asset investment of RMB760 million (USD108 million). Construction of the project is scheduled to take 18 months and production is expected to commence within 24 months since the start of construction.
Sunstone says the project is a step further toward its goal of achieving annual prebaked anode production capacity of 5 million tonnes in contract by 2025.
