Guizhou Qiya's low-grade bauxite beneficiation project starts operation

On May 31, Guizhou Qiya Aluminum Co., Ltd. put into operation a low-grade bauxite beneficiation line with a processing capacity of 600,000 tonnes per annum, one of two beneficiation lines of the bauxite dressing project launched by the company in late 2023.
The company began to construct the first line in early February 2024 and expects to build the second line as soon as possible. Both line has an investment of RMB150 million (USD20.70 million).
The newly constructed beneficiation line uses flotation method, which require significantly less land (more than 70% less) compared with lines that adopt gravity sedimentation method. What's more, the new line can produce 1 tonne of washed ore by processing just 1.3 tonnes of raw ore, versus 1.7 tonnes using gravity sedimentation method, and the washed bauxite has a higher Al/Si ratio at 5.4, which makes it a high quality raw material for alumina production
