BEIJING (Asian Metal) 29 Apr 24 - Most producers keep their prices unchanged from early this week. The current mainstream prices of Chinese expansible graphite 99 80 250 stand at RMB12,500-13,000/t (USD1,736-1,805/t) EXW D/A 180 days, unchanged from early this week. As most producers still intend to hold their prices stable, insiders predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese expansible graphite would remain steady in the coming week.
A producer in Shandong keeps the offer unchanged from early this week at RMB11,000/t (USD1,527/t) EXW D/A 180 days for expansible 95 80 250 with a concession of RMB100/t (USD14/t) at most for regular clients. "We raised our price by RMB200/t (USD27/t) late last week driven by increased prices of large flake graphite. However, after that, most of our regular clients complain about the increased prices and claim not to purchase if we raise the price further," the producer revealed, adding that they last sold about 26t at RMB10,900/t (USD1,513/t) this Thursday. For stable sales, they intend to keep their price unchanged and believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese expansible graphite would remain steady in the coming week.
Based on a production capacity of 7,000tpy, they produced about 2,500t in 2023 and around 800t so far in 2024. They predict to produce about 200t in April, in line with March. Now they have no inventory, unchanged MoM.
A producer in Inner Mongolia now quotes RMB12,500/t (USD1,736/t) EXW D/A 180 days with a concession of RMB200/t (USD14/t) at most for expansible graphite 99 80 200, in line with early this week. "We last sold about 20t at RMB12,300/t (USD1,708/t) this Friday, compared to about 30t at the same price early this week," the producer disclosed, adding that they could sell around 300t in total this month, in line with March. They plan to hold their price stable just to ensure stable sales. They predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese expansible graphite would keep firm in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 5,000t, they produced about 3,000t in 2023 and about 600t so far in 2024. They predict to produce about 300t in April, in line with March, holding no stock.
