BEIJING (Asian Metal) 26 Apr 24 - Chinese cadmium ingot market sees inactive inquiries over the past week given that most consumers finished their replenishment last week. Some suppliers move down their prices to compete for orders. Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min slide to RMB33,700-34,200/t (USD2.11-2.14/lb) EXW D/P, down by RMB500/t (USD0.03/lb) from one week ago. Market participants forecast that the prevailing prices of Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min would slide further in the following days as most downstream consumers hold back from purchasing.
A producer in Hunan reveals that they receive only 2-3 inquiries for cadmium ingot 99.99%min over the past week, while they got 7-8 inquiries last week. They quote RMB34,000/t (USD2.12/lb) EXW D/P today and could accept the price as low as RMB33,500/t (USD2.09/lb) today, while they refused to sell at prices lower than RMB34,000/t (USD2.16/lb) late last week. "Given that the buyers begin to hold back from purchasing, we forecast that the Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min market would go soft in the upcoming days", said the producer. They just sold 33t at RMB33,500/t (USD2.09/lb) yesterday.
The producer, with a production capacity of 1,800tpy of cadmium ingot 99.99%min, expects to produce around 100t this month, the same as March. They hold no inventory now, down by 30t from the end of last month. They produced around 180t so far in 2024.
Another producer in Yunnan discloses that they fail to get any inquiry for cadmium ingot 99.99%min this week, while they got at least 3 inquiries last week. They refuse to accept prices lower than RMB34,000/t (USD2.13/lb) EXW D/P presently, while they have no intention to sell at prices lower than RMB34,500/t (USD2.16/lb) one week ago. They last sold 33t at RMB35,000/t (USD2.20/lb) early last week. "Most downstream clients have finished their replenishment and stay in no hurry to place orders", said the producer. They forecast that the mainstream prices of Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min would witness a downtrend in the forthcoming week as the downstream hold watchful attitudes.
