Chinese APT export prices increase slightly

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 18 Apr 24 - As domestic prices keep increasing, most exporters raise their prices slightly this week. Currently, the mainstream export prices of APT88.5%min stand at USD318-328/mtu FOB China, up by USD3/mtu from late last week. Although most overseas clients purchase inactively due to soft demand, supported by firm prices in domestic market, insiders predict that the mainstream export prices of Chinese APT88.5%min would keep firm in the coming week.
An exporter in Jiangxi indicated that they don't offer for APT88.5%min actively now as prices keep increasing in domestic market. They have no intentions to export APT88.5%min at prices below USD318/mtu FOB China, even though they didn't export any materials at such prices. The exporter added, "We last exported about 20t of APT88.5%min at USD315/mtu last week. As prices increase fast, we receive many inquiries from overseas clients. Most of them purchase cautiously due to soft demand". The exporter added, supported by firm prices in domestic market, the exporter predicts that the mainstream export prices of Chinese APT88.5%min would stay stable in the forthcoming week.
With a monthly trading volume of 100t of APT88.5%min, the exporter predicts to export about 20t this month and didn't export last month. The exporting volume in 2023 reached nearly 400t. They now hold about 200t of stocks, unchanged from last month.
Another exporter in Jiangxi disclosed, "We don't offer for APT88.5%min now but even for firm bids, we don't want to export at prices below USD315/mtu FOB China now. We last exported about 20t at USD310/mtu last week". The exporter added that they failed to purchase any APT88.5%min at prices below RMB196,000/t (USD27,077/t) today and last purchased about 30t at RMB194,000/t (USD26,801/t) last week. Domestic prices keep increasing this week, they prefer to keep their prices firm and predict that the mainstream export prices of Chinese APT88.5%min would keep firm in the forthcoming week.
With a regular monthly export volume of around 200t, the exporter predicts to export about 40t of APT88.5%min this month and exported around 20t last month. They hold no stock presently, unchanged from last month. Their total export volume achieved about 800t in 2023.
