Mundra Aluminium to start building the first stage alumina project

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 12 Apr 24 - Mundra Aluminium Limited, a subsidiary of India Adani Group, plans to start building the first stage alumina project with the annual production capacity of 2.4 million tonnes, a source from the company reports to Asian Metal.
"Our first stage alumina project with the annual production capacity of 2.4 million tonnes would start building from late this year," says the source, adding that the construction might last for two years. The total designed production capacity is 4 million tonnes per year with overall investment budget of around USD1.8 billion.
According to the source, the first stage project will consist of two low-temperature production lines and will depend on Indian domestic bauxite. They now have two bauxite mining areas with total reserves of around 200 million tonnes and produce bauxite Al2O3 45%min SiO2 3%max.
Present mainstream prices for alumina 98.5%min keep at USD370-380/t FOB India, unchanged from late last week.
