Chinese titanium slag market prices increase

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Apr 24 - As most suppliers face firm production cost and stay in no hurry to sell at low prices, Chinese titanium slag market prices increase slightly in the past week. The current mainstream prices of Chinese titanium slag 90%min increase to RMB7,800-8,000/t (USD1,078-1,106/t) EXW D/A 180 days, up by RMB20/t (USD3/t) from early last week
"We insist on RMB7,900/t (USD1,092t) EXW D/A 180 days for titanium slag 90%min at the moment, while we quoted RMB7,900/t (USD1,092t) and could accept RMB7,880/t (USD1,089/t) for orders no less than 1,000t early last week", said a producer in Inner Mongolia, who last sold about 1,000t at around RMB7,880/t (USD1,089/t) to a regular client in late March. They received three inquiries so far this week, while they received one inquiry in total last week. Encouraged by active inquiries from downstream consumers and firm production cost, the producer plans to raise their price by around RMB20/t (USD3/t) next week and predicts that the titanium slag prices would increase by around RMB20/t (USD3/t) in the coming week.
The producer, based on an annual production capacity of 200,000t, expects to produce around 6,000t in April, up by 1,000t from March. They produced nearly 49,000t in 2023 and almost 17,000t so far in 2024 . They hold around 1,000t of stocks now, unchanged from last month.
A consumer in Henan notes that most regular suppliers quote RMB8,050/t (USD1,113/t) EXW D/A 180 days for titanium slag 90%min and could accept RMB8,000/t (USD1,106/t) for orders no less than 200t now, while they quoted RMB8,000/t (USD1,106/t) and the most competitive price remained at around RMB7,980/t (USD1,103/t) for the same quantity early last week. "We just bought about 200t at around RMB8,000/t (USD1,106/t) early this week", said the consumer, who failed to collect any materials at lower prices. As most suppliers stay in no hurry to sell due to firm prices for raw materials, the consumer predicts that the titanium slag mainstream prices would increase by around RMB20/t (USD3/t) in the following week.
With an annual consumption capacity of 50,000t, they consumed around 28,000t in 2023 and almost 55,000t so far in 2024. They expect to consume around 3,000t in April, down by 1,000t from last month . They hold around 500t of stocks now, down by 500t from last month.
