Shanxi reinforces mine safety measures

Shanxi will take further measures to ensure production safety, develop new quality productive forces and promote the high-quality development of mines.
According to the Work Measures issued by Shanxi provincial party committee and government, the Chinese province will take firm actions to close, integrate and upgrade non-coal mines, and vows to reduce the total number of metallic and non-metallic mines and tailings dams, and strictly prohibit new "overhead" tailings dams (dams within 1km of residential areas or important facilities) and independent dressing plant. By the end of 2024, Shanxi aims to reduce the number of underground metallic and non-metallic mines by over 20% and increase the proportion of medium-to-large mines by more than 15% compared with 2022.
