Huayou Cobalt raises electrowinning nickel output

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 3 Apr 24 - Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Industry Co., Ltd., a major electrowinning nickel producer in East China, raised its electrowinning nickel output to 3,000t or so in March.
"In view of high profits, our plant in Quzhou raised the operating rate of electrowinning nickel to the highest level in March, when our electrowinning nickel output reached 3,000t or so, higher than about 2,500t in February," a source from the company said, adding that they mainly use nickel hydroxide as raw material to produce electrowinning nickel.
With an annual production capacity of 36,000t, the company produced about 17,000t of electrowinning nickel in 2023, holding no stocks at the moment.
Mainstream prices of Chinese electrowinning nickel 99.96%min stood at RMB130,500-131,500/t (USD18,040-18,178/t) on Tuesday, rising by RMB2,600/t (USD359/t) from Monday. Insiders predict that prices for Chinese electrowinning nickel would go down in the coming week as demand for the material stays sluggish in the current market.
