Yangquan Taihushi resumes calcined bauxite production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 25 Mar 23 - A major calcined bauxite producer from Shanxi, Yangquan Taihushi Refractory Materials Co., Ltd., resumed their production about a week ago, expecting to produce nearly 2,000t this month.
"We suspended our furnaces since mid-January due to the environmental protectional inspection and production safety inspection and resumed production since 15th March after the safety inspection finished", a source from the company reveals, noting that they predict to produce around 2,000t this month.
Having an annual production capacity of 300,000t, they produced about 180,000t in 2023, but only expect to produce about 100,000t in 2024. They hold stocks of nearly 1,300t at the moment.
The mainstream prices of calcined bauxite 87%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 1.5%max K2O+Na2O 0.4%max B.D. 3.3min stand at RMB2,750-2,850/t (USD399-413/t) Ex-VAT EXW D/P in Shanxi, without much changes from early this week. Although the end market demand stays low, given the bauxite supply shortage, insiders anticipate that the mainstream prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would keep steady in the upcoming week.
