Chinese recycled battery prices to edge down

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 25 Mar 24 – Most secondary lead ingot producers resumed production gradually this month and purchase recycled battery actively. The mainstream prices of Chinese recycled deep cycle battery stand at RMB9,400-9,550/t (USD1,298-1,319/t) Ex-vat delivered D/P, stable from early this week. Given that most buyers have intention to decrease purchase prices of recycled battery due to thin profits, insiders predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese recycled battery would edge down in the coming week.
A consumer in Anhui noted that they purchased about 1,000t of recycled deep cycle battery at RMB9,570/t (USD1,322/t) Ex-vat delivered D/P today, they purchased about 1,500t at the same price yesterday. "We would decrease purchase price of recycled deep cycle by RMB30-50/t (USD4.1-6.9/t) next week as prices of lead ingot decreased", said the consumer, who anticipates that the mainstream prices of Chinese recycled battery would edge down in the coming week.
Based on a consumption capacity of 480,000tpy of recycled battery, the consumer would consume about 33,600t in March, up by about 8,000t from last month. They consumed about 225,000t in 2023. They hold about 16,000t of stocks presently.
"We would decrease purchase price of recycled deep cycle battery by about RMB20/t (USD2.8/t) to about RMB9,380/t (USD1,296/t) Ex-vat delivered D/P tomorrow", another consumer in Jiangxi noted. They purchased about 300t at RMB9,400/t (USD1,298/t) today and purchased about 500t at the same price yesterday. They predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese recycled battery would go down slightly in the coming week.
