BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Mar 24 – Chinese zinc die-casting alloy market slowdown due to weak demand from end users. The current mainstream prices of Chinese zinc die-casting alloy zamak-3 stand at RMB21,610-21,810/t (USD2,997-3,025/t) EXW D/P, stable from yesterday
A producer in Fujian noted that they would produce only about 500t of zinc die-casting alloy in March as most of their clients placed orders cautiously due to weak demand, while they initially expected to produce about 1,000t this month. "We quoted RMB21,770/t (USD3,019/t) for zamak-3 today, stable from yesterday", said the producer, who did not close any deals in the past two days . They predict that the mainstream priced of Chinese zinc die-casting alloy would edge down in the coming week considering the downtrend prices of zinc ingot.
With a production capacity of 20,000tpy of zinc die-casting alloy, the producer would produce about 500t in March, up by about 200t from February. They produced about 10,000t in 2023 . They hold about 100t of stocks at the moment, unchanged MoM.
"Most of our clients were in no hurry to take delivery at the moment due to soft demand, so we hold about 800t of stocks presently, while we usually hold no stocks", another producer in Shenzhen noted. They quoted RMB21,820/t (USD3,026/t) for zamak-3 today and could accept prices no less than RMB21,720/t (USD3,012/t) to regular clients, almost stable from yesterday. They did not close any deals today and sold about 200t at RMB21,720/t (USD3,012/t) yesterday . Considering that most market participants hold negative attitudes towards zinc ingot, they predict that the mainstream priced of Chinese zinc die-casting alloy would edge down in the coming week.
