Chinese HC ferrochrome prices edge up

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 19 Mar 24 – Most sellers lifted prices of HC ferrochrome as tender prices from steel increased. The current mainstream prices of Chinese HC ferrochrome Cr 52%min 10-200mm stand at RMB8,800-9,000/t (USD1,221-1,248/t) EXW D/P, up by about RMB250/t (USD35/t) from late last week. Insiders predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese HC ferrochrome would keep stable within this week.
A producer in Inner Mongolia noted that they increased prices of HC ferrochrome Cr 52%min 10-200mm by about RMB350/t (USD49/t) to RMB8,900/t (USD1,234/t) EXW D/P last Saturday as bidding prices from steel increased. "We sold about 100t at RMB8,900/t (USD1,234/t) last Saturday and sold about 100t at RMB8,550/t (USD1,186/t) early last week", said the producer, who anticipated that the mainstream prices of Chinese HC ferrochrome would keep stable within this week.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 240,000t of HC ferrochrome, would produce about 7,000t in March, almost identical to last month. They produced about 70,000t in 2023. They hold no stocks at the moment, unchanged MoM.
Another producer in Shaanxi mentioned that they lifted prices of HC ferrochrome Cr 52%min 10-60mm by about RMB200/t (USD28/t) today to about RMB9,100/t (USD1,262/t) EXW D/P today following increased tender prices from steel. "We did not close any deals today and sold about 100t at RMB8,900/t (USD1,234/t) early last week", the producer noted. They anticipate that the mainstream prices of Chinese HC ferrochrome would keep flat within this week.
On basis of an annual production capacity of 96,000t of HC ferrochrome, the producer would produce about 2,000t in March, stable from last month. They achieved an output of about 55,000t in 2023. They hold no stocks presently, stable MoM.
