BEIJING (Asian Metal) 15 Mar 24 - Despite the shrank market demand, most producers still hold their prices firm as they still remain in suspension due to the low temperature and have no harry to sell. The current mainstream prices of Chinese flake graphite -194 stand at RMB2,800-2,900/t (USD394-408/t) EXW D/A 180 days, in line with a week ago
"We kept our quotation for flake graphite -194 unchanged at RMB2,900/t (USD408/t) EXW D/A 180 days, and refuses to sell at any prices lower than RMB2,800/t (USD394/t) even to regular clients," a producer in Heilongjiang claimed, adding that they halted production in late last December and could not resume production this month. They predict to sell about 500t this month and only sold around 300t so far, compared to no sales in February and about 1,000t in January. They closed no deal so far this week and last sold around 100t at RMB2,800/t (USD/t) a week ago to a regular client . Holding only about 200t in stock presently, they still intend to keep their prices unchanged despite the weak market demand, and believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese fine flake graphite would remain steady by the end of this month.
Based on a production capacity of 50,000tpy, they produced about 30,000t in 2023 and expect a similar output in 2024. They expect to have no output in March, unchanged MoM . Now they have an inventory of about 200t, down by about 300t from late last month.
"We mainly sell flake graphite -190 and kept the quotation firm at RMB2,300/t (USD394/t) EXW D/A 180 days with no concession in the past two weeks," another producer in Heilongjiang revealed, adding that they sold about 40t this week and 60t last week both at RMB2,300/t (USD394/t). They also halted production late last year and might resume production in April according to the temperature . Holding only around 1,000t in stock at present, they plan to keep the prices stable and predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese fine flake graphite would remain unchanged in the coming two weeks.
