Chinese cadmium ingot prices unmoved

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 13 Mar 24 - Most Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min suppliers held prices unchanged supported by limited stocks and the downstream still held watchful attitudes over the past week. Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min stand at RMB31,100-31,600/t (USD1.96-1.99/lb) EXW D/P, in line with early last week. Insiders forecasted that the prevailing prices of Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min would show stable trend in the upcoming days given that the downstream held wait-and-see attitudes and suppliers had no intention to change prices.
A producer in South China disclosed that they refused to accept the price for cadmium ingot 99.99%min lower than RMB31,800/t (USD2.00/lb) EXW D/P presently, without much change from one week ago. They last sold 33t at RMB31,800/t (USD2.00/lb) early last week. "Despite that most clients refused to place orders after inquiring, we had no intention to lower our prices supported by limited stocks", said the producer. They forecasted that the mainstream prices of Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min would witness a stable trend in the forthcoming week.
The producer, having a production capacity of 1,800tpy of cadmium ingot 99.99%min, produced about 66 in February and estimated the same output in March. They hold no stocks now, unchanged from the end of last month.
A trader in South China disclosed that their regular supplier generally kept the price of cadmium ingot 99.99%min at RMB31,500/t (USD1.98/lb) EXW D/P at present, in line with early last week. They last purchased around 66t at RMB32,200/t (USD2.02/lb) EXW D/P before the Spring Festival and stayed in no hurry to replenish inventory now. The trader said, "Considering that most downstream clients held watchful attitudes and the suppliers had no intention to lower prices, we believed that the mainstream prices of Chinese cadmium ingot 99.99%min would hover at the current level in the upcoming days".
The trader, having a regular monthly trading volume of 60t of cadmium ingot 99.99%min, expected to sell around 60t this month, in line with last month. They hold around 33t of stocks now, without much change from late last month.
