Chinese 304 grade stainless CRC prices move down

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 13 Mar 24 - Chinese 304 grade stainless CRC suppliers cut their prices this week on soft demand and the decrease in steel mills' EXW prices. The mainstream prices of stainless CRC 304/2B 2.0mm*1,219mm*C from Taigang Stainless stand at RMB14,350-14,400/t (USD1,999-2,006/t) D/P in warehouse Wuxi now, and those of the material from ZPSS hover at RMB14,450-14,500/t (USD2,013-2,020/t) D/P in warehouse Hangzhou, both down by RMB200/t (USD28/t) compared with those of last Friday. Insiders predict that Chinese 304 grade stainless CRC prices would decrease by another RMB100/t (USD14/t) in the coming week.
A Wuxi-based distributor of 304 grade stainless CRC told the price of stainless CRC 304/2B 2.0mm*1,219mm*C from Taigang Stainless hovers at RMB14,400/t (USD2,006/t) D/P in warehouse Wuxi without any concessions at present, while he insisted on RMB14,600/t (USD2,034/t) last Friday. "Seeing Taigang Stainless reduced the list prices of 304 grade stainless CRC by RMB150/t (USD21/t) on March 13th, we decreased the price by RMB200/t (USD28/t) yesterday to attract customers," said the trader, adding that many customers still purchase from hand to mouth at present and the sales performance keeps poor. He sold about 10t on Tuesday at RMB14,400/t (USD2,006/t) and last sold around 10t last Friday at RMB14,600/t (USD2,034/t). The trader has the plan to cut the price again and predicts that Chinese 304 grade stainless CRC prices would further drop by RMB100/t (USD14/t) in the coming week.
With a regular sales volume of about 1,500tpm, the trader sold around 1,000t in February and expects the sales amount to rise to about 1,500t in March. Having an inventory of about 500t in hand now, similar to that of last month, they sold around 16,000t in 2023 and about 2,500t in Jan-Feb of 2024.
A trader of 304 grade stainless CRC in Hangzhou currently quotes RMB14,500/t (USD2,020/t) D/P in warehouse Hangzhou for stainless CRC 304/2B 2.0mm*1,219mm*C from ZPSS with no concession, while his price stood at RMB14,700/t (USD2,048/t) last Friday. "We also reduced the price by RMB200/t (USD28/t) this week on weak demand and the decrease in steel mills' EXW prices," said the trader. According to him, seeing the continuous price decrease these days, many customers just hold wait-and-see attitudes at the moment and place orders sparingly. He sold about 10t on Tuesday at RMB14,500/t (USD2,020/t) and last sold around 10t last weekend at RMB14,700/t (USD2,048/t). The trader intends to further decrease the price and expects Chinese 304 grade stainless CRC prices to slide by another RMB100/t (USD14/t) in the coming week.
