Jinchuan Group takes majority stake in second biggest nickel mine in China

Jinchuan Group has gained the right to lead the development of Xiarihamu nickel ore deposit, the second biggest nickel mine in China. The company acquired a 36% stake in the mine for RMB6.1 billion (USD850 million) and now holds a 56% stake in total, making it the biggest shareholder of the nickel mine.
Xiarihamu nickel ore project is located in Golmud, Qinghai and it is the second largest nickel-cobalt sulfide deposit discovered to date in China, with nickel resources of 1,183,000 tonnes, copper resources of 238,000 tonnes and cobalt resources of 43,000 tonnes. The project was put into operation in 2023.
