Hexi Silicon to launch 110ktpa industrial silicon project

The environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the second phase of 200,000tpa silicon new materials utilization developed by Gansu Hexi Silicon Industry New Material Co., Ltd. has been released for public disclosure.
With total investment estimated at RMB1.46 billion (USD203 million), the phase two will be located inside Zhangye Economic and Technological Development Zone and the construction includes eight 33000kVA submerged arc furnaces and oxidative refining system as well as other associated facilities. The second phase has a planned production capacity of 110,000tpa of industrial silicon Si5210 or Si5530, including 60,000tpa of finished industrial silicon and 50,000tpa of silicon powder.
The phase one of the project, with a production capacity of 90,000tpa, has already been approved and is currently under construction.
