Chalco Qinghai Branch to build 600kA cells with aluminum capacity of 500ktpa

In accordance with relevant guidelines and implementation measures issued by the State Council and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the primary aluminum production capacity replacement scheme by Qinghai Branch of China Aluminum Co., Ltd. (Chalco Qinghai Branch) has been released by the Industry and Information Technology Department of Qinghai for public disclosure.
The company plans to replace aluminum production capacity of 500,000tpa by building 312 electrolytic cells of 600kA at Beichuan Industrial Park in March 2024 and expects new capacity to come on stream by June 2025. As part of the capacity replacement, the company plans to shut down its existing cells with combined capacity of 400,000tpa. The remaining 100,000tpa of aluminum capacity is from Yunnan Yunlv Yongxin Metal Processing Co., Ltd.
