Anhui Baomei begins hot commissioning of magnesium line for 300ktpa magnesium alloy project

On December 23, Anhui Baomei Light Alloy Co., Ltd. began the hot commissioning of the magnesium production line at its 300,000tpa high performance and lightweight magnesium alloy and deep-processing project, paving the way for commercial production in 2024.
Anhui Baomei's magnesium alloy project broke ground on December 28, 2021 and the phase one construction includes the 300,000tpa magnesium alloy production line, 40Mtpa Qingyang Wujia dolomite mine, 35Mtpa manufactured sand and aggregate production line, 22.97km-long transport corridor and other public facilities, with a total investment of RMB12.35 billion (USD1.73 billion).
The magnesium production line, which began hot commissioning this time, is a key part of the 300,000tpa magnesium alloy production line, and it uses Anhui Baomei's latest technology to realize more than 500kg of output per reduction tank, which is more than four times that of the existing production capacity of Baowu Magnesium and even a dozen times that of the industry average. The production line is also fully automated, for the first time, in terms of the feeding, production and slagging processes.
