Zhengzhou Light Alloy Institute Co., Ltd. has produced a forged magnesium alloy plate with specification of Φ2550*120mm, which is a technical breakthrough for large-sized magnesium alloy forgings used in aerospace applications and also further expands the applications of wrought magnesium alloy as large structural components.
The company uses semicontinuous casting method to produce cast magnesium alloy ingot Φ700*3000mm, which is then forged into magnesium alloy plate Φ2550*120mm, with a tensile strength of ~260-290MPa, yield strength of ~160-200MPa and ductility of ~9-15% at room temperature.
