Tengyuan Cobalt to launch phase four of DRC cobalt and copper SX/EW plant

China's Tengyuan Cobalt plans to invest USD90 million, through its wholly-owned overseas unit Tengyuan Copper & Cobalt Resources (TCC), to launch the fourth phase of cobalt and copper SX/EW plant located in Kolwezi, Lualaba, DRC. The phase four project would take 16 months to complete construction and is expected to become operational in December 2024.
The phase four is an associated project for the cobalt and copper SX/EW plant and it will add annual production capacity of 160,000t of sulfuric acid, 15,000t of liquid sulfur dioxide, 30,000t of sodium sulfide and power generation capacity of 21MW/H.
Upon completion of the phase four, the Kolwezi cobalt and copper SX/EW plant will have an annual production capacity of 10,000t of cobalt, 60,000t of copper, 200,000t of sulfuric acid, 16,500t of liquid sulfur dioxide, 45,000t of sodium sulfide and power generation capacity of 21MW/H.
