China's Chifeng has launched a new round of prospecting operations, aiming to achieve a production value of RMB200 billion (USD27.37 billion) from the mining sector by 2025 and develop a nationally important energy and strategic resources base.
Chifeng has discovered 83 minerals and 1,600 deposits to date, with the biggest resources and reserves of lead, zinc, tin, gold, silver, lithium and rubidium in Inner Mongolia for a potential economic value of over RMB5 trillion (USD684 billion). There are so far 47 mining companies above designated size in the city with the total production value exceeding RMB100 billion (USD13.68 billion).
The city aims to achieve a steady growth in key mineral resources and reserves and increase nonferrous metals mineral reserves by more than 200 million tonnes by 2025. It also expect to further extend industrial chain by attracting downstream deep-processing companies and projects for copper, lead, zinc, lithium, molybdenum, tin and other nonferrous metals in its key development zones.
