Hami Zhonghe to build 600ktpa titanium concentrate dressing plant

Hami Zhonghe Vanadium and Titanium Co., Ltd. plans to submit the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of its 600ktpa titanium concentrate and 700ktpa iron concentrate dressing plant project for approval.
With a total investment of RMB869 million (USD119 million) and a construction period of 16 months, the project will process raw ore, stripped ore and tailings from the mining of ilmenite to produce titanium concentrate and iron concentrate. The project is expected to create 220 new jobs.
According to the EIA of the project, the Weiya ilmenite mine owned by Hami Ruitai Mining Co., Ltd. now has nine tailing stockpiles holding an estimated 50.86 million tonnes of tailings at 3.9% TiO2 for 1.98 million tonnes of TiO2 metal equivalent. The mine has a approved mining capacity of 125,000tpa and would produce 357,500t of exploitable tailings annually. Ruitai Mining also plans to build a new iron ore project on the peripheral area of the Weiya mine in Xinjiang this year, which would produce 10 million tonnes of tailings per year. This would guarantee sufficient supply of raw materials to the 600ktpa titanium concentrate and 700ktpa iron concentrate project.
