According to the Guidance on Energy Work in 2023 publicized by China's National Energy Administration (NEA) on April 12, in 2023 China's total energy production target will be around 4
. 75 billion tons of standard coal to ensure steady and growing energy self-sufficiency for the country; coal in total energy consumption should decrease on a steady basis while non-fossil energy should rise to around 18 . 3% of the total consumption; installed power generation capacity supported by non-fossil fuels should grow to around 51 . 9% of the total installed capacity; wind and PV power should rise to 15 . 3% of total social power consumption; wind and solar power generation is encouraged with a targeted increase of around 160GW in wind and PV installed capacity in 2023.
