China to ban new steel production capacities and expedite industrial merger and restructuring

An official from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently revealed that in 2023 China will strictly implement steel production capacity replacement policy, ban new production capacities, further deepen reform on mixed ownership, expedite industrial merger and restructuring, so as to cultivate a number of worldly leading steel companies and also to change the situation of small, sporadic and disorderly steel production in some regions.
