Germany sees coal as major power source in 2022

Coal still played a vital role in Germany's power sources in 2022 with a year-on-year increase of 8.4% in electricity generation, accounting for nearly a third of the country's total electricity supply, according to the primary statistics from Destatis.
In 2022, wind power, the second largest power source in Germany, achieved an increase of 9.4% in power generation proportion to 24.1%, and meanwhile, solar power generation accounted for 10.6%, up by 19.5%, both year on year. What's more, the German government is trying to increase its installed solar capacity to 400,000 megawatts or more by 2040.
