Liaoning aims to cap annual magnesite mining at 30Mt by 2025

The overall plan for mineral resource in Liaoning (2021-2025) has been approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources of China
. According to the five-year plan, the province vows to significantly increase supply of iron, gold, boron and other strategic mineral resources, aiming to add over 1 billion tonnes of iron ore, 10 tonnes of gold ore and 100,000 tonnes of boron ore from more than five newly discovered mid-to-large deposits by the end of the period . The province aims to mine 700 million tonnes of iron ore and 5 million tonnes of boron ore annually, and to cap annual magnesite mined at 30 million tonnes by 2025 . The province expects to have up to 2,000 mines in total by 2025, with mid-to-large mines to account for roughly 30% of the total.
