India imposes anti-dumping duty on aluminum foil from China

On September 16, 2021, the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue of India issued Notification No. 51/2021-Customs (ADD), stating that it accepted the anti-dumping final determination made by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India on June 18, 2021 on aluminum foil 80 microns and below originating or imported from China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand
On June 20, 2021, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India initiated of an anti-dumping investigation against aluminum foil 80 microns and below originating or imported from China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand in response to an application submitted by three Indian companies. Aluminum foil 80 microns and below (tolerance allowed), whether or not printed or backed with paper, cardboard, plastic or similar materials, was investigated . On June 18, 2021, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India issued a final affirmative ruling on aluminum foil 80 microns and below originating or imported from China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, and recommended the imposition of anti-dumping duties on the products involved in these countries.

In other words, anti-dumping duties will be imposed for 5 years on the products involved in the case from the above countries, including USD398 . 45-976.99/t for China, USD422.28/t for Indonesia, USD850.45/t for Malaysia and USD93 . 53-339.93/t for Thailand . This notification shall take effect as of the date of its publication in the official Gazette . This case involves products under Indian customs code 7607 . The following products are not applicable to the anti-dumping measures in this case: Chinese-origin aluminum foil with a thickness of 5.5-80μm, aluminum laminate, ultra light gauge conversion aluminum foil, aluminum foil composite, aluminum foil for capacitor with a width of no more than 500mm, etched or formed aluminum foil, aluminum plastic plate, coated aluminum foil, aluminum foil for beer bottle, aluminum manganese silicon alloy and/or coated aluminum manganese silicon alloy, aluminum foil tape and color coated aluminum foil.On June 20, 2021, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India initiated of an anti-dumping investigation against aluminum foil 80 microns and below originating or imported from China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand in response to an application submitted by three Indian companies.
