Stainless steel output and sales of South Korea POSCO in Q1 up about 1.5% and 2.3% YOY

According to a report released by South Korea POSCO, in the first quarter of 2021, its stainless steel production reached 488,000t, a year-on-year increase of nearly 1.5% and a month-on-month decrease of nearly 2.8%; the sales volume of stainless steel reached 480,000t, an increase of approximately 2.3% (11,000t) and a month-on-month decrease of about 0.4% (2,000t).
Crude steel production in the quarter increased by about 5.4% year-on-year but slightly decreased by about 0.2% month-on-month to 9.559 million tons; steel production increased by about 22.6% year-on-year while decreased slightly by about 0.4% month-on-month to 8.92 million tons, and steel sales increased by about 2.2% year-on-year but decreased by about 2% to 8.812 million tons.
