Indonesia coal output rises by nearly 4% YOY in Jan-May

According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, the country produced 237 million tons of coal from January to May 2021, up by 3.95% compared with 228 million tons in the same period of last year.
Affected by the extreme weather, some coal production regions saw decreases of output at the beginning of this year. The country finished 38% of its annual output target of 625 million tons for 2021 in the first five months.
The data showed that Indonesia sold 51.8 million tons of the output to its domestic market. In 2021, Indonesia planned to sell 137.5 million tons of coal to domestic market.
With the expectation of export increase, Indonesia raised its annual output target by 75 million tons from 550 million tons in April.
