Yunnan Haolong Industry to suspend lead-zinc concentrate production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Jan 21 - Yunnan Haolong Industry Group Co., Ltd., one of main lead-zinc concentrate producers in Yunnan, plans to suspend production at the end of January with the Spring Festival approaching, and expects to resume production in late February. The company expects to produce about 650 metal tons of lead concentrate and about 4,000t metal tons of zinc concentrate in January, a source from the company revealed to Asian Metal.
"According to the company's arrangement, we will stop producing lead-zinc concentrate from the end of this month and expect to resume production in late February after the Spring Festival," the source said. The company's mine has an average lead grade of about 1% and an average zinc grade of about 8%. The company has four dressing plants with a daily processing capacity of about 1,600 tons. It mainly produces lead concentrate 60%min and zinc concentrate 50%min, and most of zinc concentrate is used to produce crude zinc with a small part processed into zinc calcine for external sales.
With an annual capacity of 8,000 metal tons for lead concentrate, the company expects to produce 650 metal tons in January, in line with December. With an annual capacity of 60,000 metal tons for zinc concentrate, the company expects to produce about 4,000 metal tons in January, unchanged from December, holding no stock for both products now.
Mainstream prices for lead concentrate 60%min stood at RMB12,850-13,050/metal ton (USD1,984-2,015/metal ton) locally on Tuesday, down by RMB50/metal ton (USD7.72/metal ton) from Monday.
Mainstream prices for zinc concentrate 50%min stood at RMB15,150-15,450/metal ton (USD2,339-2,385/metal ton) locally on Tuesday, up by RMB100/metal ton (USD15.44/metal ton) from Monday.
