Canada's Marimaca Copper received the go-ahead from Chile's Environmental Evaluation Service (SEA) for a three-year exploration program at the Marimaca copper project in northern Antofagasta region.
The company can now install up to 365 drill pads in the Marimaca sulfide area and surrounding land.
The firm said mobilization of drilling contractors is expected to take place in December and January. First targets are planned to be drilled in early Q1 2021.
In September, Marimaca Copper reported the project's potential for a new iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) district within the area. Mineral resources are estimated at 70Mt at 0 . 60% copper in the measured and inferred categories, and 40Mt at 0 . 52% in the inferred category . The potential open pit mine is expected to produce 40,000tpy of copper cathode for 12 years.
